The Margaret River Region Wine Festival is not that far away and we thought we'd bring you up to date on what we are going to be doing. For the first time the Festival spans nearly 10 days, 10-19 November, and there is action happening somewhere every day.
Friday 10th November
Welcome Wine Tasting
Come and meet Ros, and take the opportunity to sample some of the regions wines at the Busselton Tourist Centre from 4pm to 6pm.
Mainstreet in Margaret River
This promises to be one of the fun 'street' parties of the Festival. Robin Reilly, our country representative, will be serving up some of our wines amidst a parade of fun and festivity. Turn up from about 5pm.
Saturday 11 November
KWAFF
Karridale Wine & Food Festival
Start the day at the Hogs Head in Augusta then meander up to Alexandra Bridge Estate, where six of the most southern Margaret River wineries get together and you can sample by the glass and purchase by the case. Lots of delicious foods by Don Hancy, Ron Bunney and Cloverdene Cheeses. Entertainment caters for all the family with games for young and old. Starts at 12pm and finishes at dusk.
Happs on the Bus Route & 'Buy on the Buses'
We will be one of the first stops on the bus route in the northern region, and we will be open for business.
Take advantage of 'Buy on the Buses,' where you pay $10 for freight to the Perth Metro area for any amount of wine that you desire to buy. The bus tour guide will sell you a ticket, you pay for the wine at any of the wineries, and the Association with Vinsafe and West Coast Express, will consolidate your order, and deliver to your door. What a great way to shop!
Master Class by Erland Happ : Reds, Anything but Cabernet!
Erl Happ conducts a tasting his way which could be anything and definitely controversial! And no doubt a lot of seriously good fun. At Cape Mentelle from 10am - call the Margaret River Festival : 9757 9314 for information
Or see the website : www.mrfest.org.au
Wednesday 15th November
A Wine Adventure with Erl Happ
Erl & Roslyn Happ share two of their most exciting wines from the Three Hills vineyard in Karridale - Viognier & Nebbiolo. Happs is one of the few wineries in Australia currently making these varieties as straight varietals. Erl will walk you through the journey he has taken with the Three Hills vineyard, explaining how he sees the picture developing for some of the varieties that he has planted. Learn about the nature of Preservative Free wines, for which Happs has become one of the market leaders.
Finish off the special dinner menu by Rhys Passmore, with Garnet and an award winning vintage port, Fortis. $85 (inc GST) per head. For more details,

Relax in the grounds of Ellensbrook to the music of the world. Featuring some 70 performers, the Concert has become one of the most well attended events of the Festival. Everyone is encouraged to bring a picnic to the FREE CONCERT sponsored by Healthways and the Lotteries Commission.
This year, Happs and four other wineries will be offering glass and bottle sales, and Friends of Ellensbrook will prepare some yummy dishes. It's a perfect Fuchsia and Marrimee picnic day.
And there is plenty of entertainment for the children with a roaming clown conducting games and a bouncy castle that's also free!
Other dates at Happs to look keep free!
