Tasting Notes |
A distillation of flowers with the intensity of fine perfume.
Background: The variety 'Muscat a petit grains', or simply 'Brown Muscat' as it is known in Australia, is quite different to the 'Muscat of Alexandria' or 'Gordo' that is grown in many a back garden across the country. The latter requires a great deal of heat to reach maturity and produces wines of rather less distinction. Brown Muscat on the other hand ripens early and, if left to hang on the vine, produces grapes of unsurpassed concentration, flavour and aroma. Dr. John Gladstones without doubt the world's foremost authority on the response of the vine to the environment, and as a West Australian, indicated some years ago that Brown Muscat should be tried in the country round Busselton. The results are exciting.
Garnet is a fortified, but a new age fortified with 14% rather than the usual 18% alcohol.
