Hi wonderful Happs family. I am a fond admirer, and frequent drinker, of the delicious Three Hills wine range. Tonight we enjoyed a 2002 Charles Andreas. It is the second last of multiple bottles I purchased awhile ago from the cellar door. Bottle #4274. Just to let you know it has aged wonderfully, and after 12 years, is drinking beautifully! Followed closely by a 2004 Merlot. #2048. Regards Scott
Shane Kelford On a -25 C degree December 2013 evening in Eastern Ontario, we enjoyed a 1999 Charles Andreas Three Hills. Last of three bottles in my cellar. Glad I waited. Delicious with prime rib roast, seasoned with garlic, coarse black pepper and sea salt. Velvety, with still great balance of fruit and tannins after opening with the fruit flavours subsiding after a half hour of decanting. Very enjoyable.
Linda (Thursday, 02 May 2013) I first met Charlie 4 years ago when the Missus was buying some pottery. I asked for a taste of your biggest, meanest, kick arse red. The bloke next to me at the bar said he had never heard a wine described like that but the young lady behind the bar said I know exactly what he wants and promptly opened a bottle and poured me a taste. I get a carton each year and Charlie has complimented many a great meal and impressed even those who didn't usually drink reds. Cheers Chaz.
Graham Waideman (Monday, 10 October 2011) A review email sent in from Daphne Brucern: My husband and I just shared a bottle of Three Hills 1999 Charles Andreas from our wine cellar. We had it with barbecued steak and Dumpling squash. This is the eve of Canadian Thanksgiving and we thought it would go well with our dinner as the weather is warm enough for barbecuing. The wine was absolutely amazing and was perfect with our meal. It was very full bodied and full of flavour. We enjoyed each sip. The best part is we have two more to enjoy in our cellar.
Rebecca Nash of New York by email (Friday, 02 September 2011) Hi Jeremy, Many thanks for your note. We look forward to opening our box when we next return to Australia. We have sent it to my parents in Melbourne with strict do not drink instructions until we are home (from New York City where we currently live). We have very fond memories of visiting you at Happs during a wonderful Margaret River holiday four years ago. Your cellar door and staff were a delight and we have enjoyed every bottle from the mixed case we sent home from that trip. I was first introduced to the Three Hills Charles Andreas by the West Australian Symphony Orchestra who gave it to me as a welcoming gift (I am an opera singer and was in town to perform the soprano solo in Beethoven's Missa Solemnis with the WASO). I took it home with me, read all about it and made a note of when I should open it. On a subsequent trip home, my family enjoyed it very much. We were excited to find 2 bottles of the same vintage in a wine store in New York a little while later and shared them with friends here. The subscription emails are great, love finding one in my inbox (the Christmas 2010 one was excellent!!) Very best wishes to you all from a homesick Happs fan, Rebecca.
